Spotlight on Candace Cameron Bure: Faith, Family & Purpose
As many of you may know, Candace Cameron Bure is best known for her iconic role as Donna Jo “DJ” Tanner on the beloved TV series Full House and its sequel Fuller House. In addition to her television success, she became a fan favorite through her roles in numerous Hallmark Channel movies, and she was a finalist on Dancing with the Stars (Season 18), where she placed in the Top 3.
Candace is also a New York Times bestselling author, with at least four books to her name:
-
Reshaping It All
-
Balancing It All
-
Dancing Through Life
-
Kind Is the New Classy
A central theme across all of her work is her deep Christian faith, which influences the roles she takes, the stories she tells, and the messages she shares. She has consistently used her platform to promote faith-driven values, family, and wholesome entertainment.
Candace has openly expressed caution about certain types of media—particularly horror films, which she avoids due to spiritual concerns. She has said she believes such content can be “spiritually dangerous” or even open portals to “demonic forces.”
In addition to her faith, she’s been candid about her struggles with body image and disordered eating, particularly her past experience with bulimia in her 20s. She continues to speak out about the lingering effects of unrealistic body expectations from the '80s and '90s, and she’s been critical of modern weight-loss trends, which she describes as “triggering” given her personal history.
Candace is also outspoken about her political and cultural values. She is publicly conservative, opposes abortion, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, voiced her opposition to vaccine mandates—while clarifying that she was not anti-vaccine.
After stepping away from the Hallmark Channel, Candace joined Great American Media as Chief Content Officer. Under her leadership, the network has focused on producing family-friendly content that “keeps traditional marriage at the core.” While this direction has drawn criticism from some, who view it as excluding LGBTQ+ stories, Candace remains committed to her vision of creating content that reflects her Christian worldview.
She has helped popularize a genre of wholesome, faith-based romantic films, especially around the holidays, and has become a trusted figure in the world of Christian media and entertainment.
Here at Faith & Freedom Co., we support her faith, courage, and mission to live out her values boldly—on-screen and off. Whether through her books, her movies, or her personal witness, Candace Cameron Bure continues to inspire others to live with grace, conviction, and purpose.
